ISS #NASASocial Emblem by @Astro95Media

ISS NASA Social

Created: May 2013

Design Summary

Building on the success of the March 2013 NASA Social, Johnson Space Center held a second event in May. I was asked by good friend Tim Scott, who was selected for the event, to design a special emblem for the day. The design features a prominent International Space Station as the key focus of the event, as well as six surrounding stars for the six crewmembers soon to be aboard the outpost. The three flags, Italy, United States and Russia, commemorate the three members of the soon-to-be-launched Expedition 36 crew, Luca Parmitano, Karen Nyberg and Fyodor Yurchikhin, who will be performing much of the science worked discussed at the event. The white Lone Star points to the location of the event within the Lone Star State.
