In summer of 2012, the Challenger Learning Center in Normal, IL held a unique underwater summer camp inspired by NASA's NEEMO underwater analogue missions. The Center partnered with Astro95Media to create an emblem for student divers that reflected the Challenger Underwater Mission Simulation (ChUMS) program.
Mirroring the simple lines of NASA's NEEMO program emblem, the ChUMS patch features blue waves to represent water, a snorkel mask to represent the diving skills students were learning and practicing during the program, and seven bubbles to represent the 7 Challenger 51-L astronauts (in whose honor the Challenger Learning Center was founded).
